FlyTech UAV, Polish drone manufacturer presents innovative and cost-effective drone solution for power grid inspections, as an alternative to LiDAR systems.
The company recently developed the portfolio of products dedicated to power engineering and a tailor-made offer of drone services for energy sector. The unique in-house algorithm allows for power line recognition, based on photographs from UAV.
– We develop the solution which is an alternative to costly LiDAR inspection. We can acquire high-quality visual, thermal and metric data, including the full 3D inventory. Of course with surveygrade accuracy – explains Pawel Wiacek, photogrammetry specialist at FlyTech UAV.
The company equips their fixed wing drone BIRDIE with full-frame 42 Mpix camera for data acquisition. After completed flight, photographs are processed with the use of in-house algorithm. It is possible to generate the 3d power grid model and complex tree trimming report, describing the distance between power lines and the vegetation.
The solutions is highly productive: it is possible to map up to 12 km of power lines in a single flight. The platform BIRDIE is easy-to-use as it flies autonomously according to the mission pattern, without the need of manual inputs. Moreover, it has an unlimited 4G LTE connectivity, which gives a possibility to conduct BVLOS flights.
